RICARDO FRAGA GUTERRES

DIRECTOR OF CNEN Director of Radioprotection and Safety (DRS) of the National Nuclear Energy Commission (CNEN), he holds a PhD from the University of Paris. He worked as a researcher at the Laboratoire Aimè Cotton (Paris XI) and Post-Doc at the LASER Physics Laboratory/UFRJ. At CNEN, he was Head of the Division of Medical Applications and Research, Substitute Coordinator of the General Coordination of Medical and Industrial Installations, Head of the Division of Technical and Scientific Advice, advisor and deputy Director of the DRS. He is the author of several scientific articles in indexed journals and has also contributed as author of a book chapter in the area of spectroscopy and photo-association of ultracold atoms. In the regulatory area, he authored CNEN Norms, acted as an IAEA expert, participating in missions to assess the performance of regulatory systems in the nuclear area of several countries. Developed tools to assess national regulation in relation to IAEA standards in the area of radiological protection and nuclear safety and participated in the project to develop the Action Plan for the Establishment of a Management System for the Nuclear Regulatory Body. He is the author of several works in the regulatory area including studies on the management of Regulatory Bodies and an appointed member of the IAEA Safety Standards Committee.
