THAT'S ME

Full Professor at USP (CENA)

Born in Macau (CHINA), naturalized Brazilian in 1970. Professor at USP, works at the Center for Nuclear Energy in Agriculture (USP) in Piracicaba-SP. He is a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and of the World Academy of Sciences (TWAS). An agronomist, with a master's degree in Nuclear Energy in Agriculture and a PhD in Soils and Plant Nutrition from USP, specialization in Australia in Microbiology from the International Nuclear Energy Agency and in Microbial Ecology from the University of California – Davis (USA). He was a member of the Management Committee of the Agribusiness Sectorial Fund of the MCTI-DF and a member of the CA-Agrárias of the CNPq. Recipient of the Scientific and Technological Merit Medal by the Government of the State of São Paulo, the Scopus Award, the 2050 Challenge Award in Agribusiness (FAO), the “Deusa Ceres” Award as Agronomist of the Year 2017 (AEASP) and the “Friend of the Navy” Medal . In his research, he has sought to determine balancing factors that promote the sustainability of agricultural production, in order to minimize the effects of deforestation and land use conversion by encouraging the adoption of more sustainable models of agricultural management, in a multidisciplinary view of the role of active soil microbiota in the context of modern agriculture.
