TRACTEBEL Project Manager for Angra 3
He holds a degree in Naval Sciences (1971), Electrical and Naval Engineering from the Polytechnic University of São Paulo (1977). He also holds the title of Master and Engineer, Doctor of Engineering, in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in Nuclear Engineering from Stanford University (1987). He has over 30 years of experience in the nuclear fuel cycle, primarily in the development and operation of enrichment, reactor design and construction, as well as at the front end of the fuel cycle in conversion and retrofit plants. He worked for almost 20 years (1980 to 1998) with nuclear science and technology development and managed several positions in the Brazilian Nuclear Navy Program.
He also worked at ABACC - Brazilian Agency for Accounting and Control of Nuclear Material as Senior Planning and Assessment Officer (2006 to 2014) and also held the position of Operations Officer (1998 to 2006). He has been involved in safeguards and non-proliferation since 1991. He was a member of the IAEA Director “Permanent Advisory Group on Safeguard Implementation” (SAGSI) from 2010 to 2016. engineering in energy areas such as Nuclear, Solar, Wind, Hydraulic, Biomass, Waste for Energy and special projects. Participated in the executive project and design of Angra 3. He currently works at Tractebel Engineering Ltd, Brazil, as Project Manager for Angra 3 Due Diligence. He is also involved as an expert advisor on nuclear non-proliferation and disarmament.
He is Vice-President of the Board of Trustees of ABDAN (Brazilian Association for the Development of Nuclear Activities) and Vice-President of the INSC (International Council of Nuclear Societies) and former President of LAS / ANS (Latin American Section of the Nuclear Society of America ). He is a member of ANS (American Nuclear Society), INMM (Institute of Nuclear Materials Management) and ABEN (Brazilian Association of Nuclear Energy).
