DR. MARCO ANTONIO BAYOUT Alvarenga was born in 1954 in Rio de Janeiro and received his PhD (DSc) in Nuclear Engineering in 1997 from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), and has a degree in Electrical Engineering in 1977 and a Masters in Nuclear Engineering in 1980 as well. by UFRJ. He has worked since December 1980 at the Brazilian nuclear regulatory body in the safety assessment sector of the Coordination of Reactors, of which he was Coordinator from 2003 to 2005. In these 40 years of work, he has accumulated extensive experience in the areas of Licensing and Inspection of Nuclear Reactors. He is currently Technical Coordinator of the Nuclear Reactor Operators Licensing Board.
